SUCCESS FOR GEORGE!
May 2010
A YSEP student has been selected to undergo a 3-month internship at one of Tanzania's most prestigious hotels.
George Aluwany, 25, studied computer studies and English at the Eureka Institute before taking up a course in hotel management. Previous to this he had no experience of school and no skills in English at all.
As part of the YSEP course George will train at the Ngurudoto Hotel in Arusha, where Tanzania's president stays on visits to the city.
YSEP co-ordinator Boniface Kimboka said: "We are delighted for George, who now stands in a good position to secure a job at the same hotel or any other reputable hotel."
George Aluwany is sponsored by German company director Kirsten Shoenharting, who met him during a holiday tour to Mount Kilimanjaro.
Ms Shoenharting said: "I am very proud of George - I knew that he would take his chance!"

BRITISH SCHOOL DONATES TO YSEP
April 2010
Students and teachers at a UK school have donated more than £200 to YSEP, following a Christmas fundraising campaign.
Youngsters from Skipton Girls' High, North Yorkshire, raised £230 for the charity through student contributions and a staff raffle.
Teacher Jonathan Kennedy said: "Our students looked at the YSEP Tanzania website with their tutors and saw for themselves the fantastic work the charity is doing in trying to enable young people to reach their potential in challenging circumstances.
"Once they saw the website and found out about the excellent work done with vulnerable youngsters to offer support and training, the money flowed in!"
Mr Kennedy added: "Giving students the chance of an education is something we all take for granted in Great Britain, but it resonated with staff and students here alike."
The money will be used to help YSEP sponsor more students in English, computer science, business management, tailoring and other subjects.
YSEP head co-ordinator Boniface Kimboka said: "We are truly grateful to everyone at Skipton Girls' High for donating this money, which will be used to help change the lives of African youngster for the better."

NEW YEAR, NEW DONOR!
January 2010
The managing director of a German automotive company has pledged to donate £50 per month to help educate a YSEP student.
Kirsten Schoenharting began her contributions after learning about the work of YSEP on a visit to Tanzania in 2008. She gave an initial donation of £150.
Kirsten said: "Everybody in the world should have access to education and be in the position to organise their life, and not have to remain poor with no hope or future perspectives. This means that I support any programme like YSEP, which has the potential to multiply its work."
Kirsten helps a student called George Aluwany with his school fees. She met George, whose sister and nephew also attend YSEP, on a trip to Tanzania in 2008. George lives in Moshi and undertook a computer course and English lessons, before transfering to the YSEP hotel management programme last year.
